Is Parasailing Safe? The Answer is YES!

Parasailing is a great way to experience a whole new view of the world. It gives you the most unique aerial perspective of the Okanagan Valley and downtown Kelowna that’s unlike anything else. But is it safe?

The Answer is YES!

If you’ve been considering parasailing, the answer is YES – it’s a safe activity. However, it can depend on a few major safety factors that you should take into consideration when choosing which operator to fly with.

Wind And Weather Is A Major Factor

Wind and weather can have a major impact on the safety of parasailing. Ideal conditions are typically on sunny or cloudy days, with little to no wind. However, conditions can change rapidly in the Okanagan Valley and when storm clouds roll in from certain directions, or the wind begins to pick up and the water becomes choppy, it is not a good idea to go parasailing. This is because high winds can cause the parasail to become unstable and can cause safety equipment to fail by pushing it beyond its designed capabilities.

If your tour operator takes you parasailing in high-wind conditions or during an impending storm, you are not flying with a safe parasail company.

This doesn’t mean that all parasailing companies are unsafe! Parasailing is a safe and memorable experience done all over the world.

Choose An Experienced Company

If you are looking to go parasailing in the Okanagan, it’s important to do your research and find a company that offers the safest experience. As the longest standing parasail operator in British Columbia and Western Canada, our team is comprised of the most experienced and safety-conscious captains and staff. All our equipment and operators are certified and licensed by Transport Canada and we abide by the WSIA’s (Water Sports Industry Association) rules, regulations and safety precautions. Our parasails, safety equipment and boats are inspected on a daily and weekly basis for safety and maintenance. You can be rest assured that our entire team is dedicated to providing you with the safest experience possible.

Because we care about safety, we are the only parasail company in Western Canada that exclusively flies parasails made by Custom Chutes out of Florida, USA. Custom Chutes are leaders in the commercial parasailing industry and have the highest standards of parasail safety, operation and development. They are without question the world’s best parasail and safety equipment manufacturer.

It’s also smart to check reviews for the company on multiple platforms to make sure they are positive, and everyone had a fun and safe experience. A company with positive reviews is more likely to provide a quality service.

Our prices have remained competitive since we started in this business and we don’t believe in over-inflating our prices. We offer the best deal in town all day every day, without compromising on safety or overcrowding boats.

Comparison To Other Adrenaline Activities

How does parasailing compare to adrenaline activities like skydiving or paragliding? Unlike other adrenaline activities parasailing is a calm and enjoyable experience. The gentle ascent up into the air provides panoramic views of Kelowna and Okanagan Lake below. We often say it’s like a giant Ferris wheel on the end of a 600 foot rope. All you need to do is sit back and relax, we take care of the rest for you.

What If I'm Scared Of Heights?

We’ve had people who are afraid of heights, and they absolutely loved the experience while others find it more challenging. Because parasailing is a slow and steady ascent, we can customise your flight in several ways. We communicate with hand signals during your flight to make sure you feel comfortable at all times. We want you to feel safe and happy no matter what. That’s our number one priority.

Parasailing is an activity the whole family can enjoy. Always go with a reputable company and ask your tour operator if you have any specific questions or concerns. We are here to make your experience as memorable as possible.

So let’s get you in the air! Book a flight with us today!
