FAQs
-
How does it work?We provide a life jacket and fit you with a harness. You will sit on the back of the boat and slowly take off being lifted into the air by the winch system and the parachute. You'll enjoy 10 minutes up in the air where you'll reach heights of up to 300ft. You'll then gently descend towards the boat and will get a chance to be dipped in the water. You can also stay completely dry if you prefer. You will then gently land standing up on the back of the boat again.
-
Do I need to have any experience to go parasailing?Absolutely not! If you can sit, you can fly. We do all the work — you have all the fun high above Kelowna! Our crew will walk you through the process, ensuring your comfort and safety every step of the way. You’ll be securely harnessed and briefed on what to expect.
-
Are there any age or weight restrictions? As young as 4 and as “young” as 100. Participants under the age of 19 must have a parent or guardian sign their liability waiver. The minimum combined weight is 150lbs (65kg), and the maximum combined weight is about 450-550lbs (200-250kg). Weight requirements change daily due to wind conditions and are subject to the Captain’s approval.
-
Do you take off from or land in the water? No, you take off and land directly on the boat! After we fit you with a special parasailing harness and life jacket, you are seated next to your partner(s), on the flight deck and then gently launched and landed using a hydraulic winch system.
-
Do I have to know how to swim? No, it's not necessary but it can helpful since you are participating in a water sport. Everyone who parasails must wear a life vest, but you can opt out for the water dip if you prefer to stay dry as you take off and land directly on the boat.
-
Do I ever touch the water? It’s up to you! Just let the Captain or crew know if you want to stay dry or get your feet wet in the lake. We call this a dip!
-
How many can fly at a time?We can fly one, two or three at a time. Some restrictions apply depending on weight and wind conditions; ultimately, it’s the Captain’s decision.
-
Can I go along just to watch?Yes, we do allow viewers on the boat just to watch. However we cannot reserve or guarantee viewer seats. Right before the boat departs, if there are seats available, we will welcome you on board. The cost is $30. If you change your mind, while on the boat and decide to fly, the $30 charge is then applied to the cost of parasailing.
-
How high do you fly? You'll reach heights of 200-300 ft in the air! You'll see panoramic views of Lake Okanagan, the City of Kelowna, the Bennett Bridge and parts of West Kelowna.
-
I'm afraid of heights, is it scary?Parasailing is actually not scary like a roller coaster or a free-fall ride. It’s a gentle and smooth experience that many people with a fear of heights find surprisingly easy and enjoyable. You'll be glad you did it!
-
What should I wear?Bathing suits if you want to get wet, otherwise shorts, T-shirts, and sandals. Occasionally, it can be chilly during the spring and fall months so bring layers accordingly. Honestly, we can fly you in a dress or tuxedo — remember – you don’t have to get wet!
-
How long is the whole experience?Parasailing flights are about 10 minutes up in the air. The experience is part parasailing and part boat ride. You should plan on being out on the water for about an hour from when you leave our dock at the Delta Hotel until we return to the dock. Each parasail boat holds up to 10 passengers who take turns parasailing two or three at a time. Please ensure you arrive at the kiosk 30 minutes before your scheduled flight.
-
Are advance bookings recommended?Yes, because of parasailing’s popularity and the limited space, we encourage advance bookings. There have been times when guests have shown up without an advance booking only to have to wait for a couple of hours until there was a space open for them. We also take phone bookings and walk-up guests are always welcome.
-
How far in advance should I make a booking? We recommend at least 2-5 days in advance depending on the season. For large groups of 10 or more, please call 2-3 weeks in advance. If you are unsure of your vacation schedule, at least try to make a booking early in the morning before all the boats fill up for the day! And don't leave parasailing for the last day of your vacation, as sometimes bad weather may not allow you to reschedule.
-
What part of our vacation should we plan parasailing for?We encourage you to plan for parasailing during the first part of your vacation. The weather at times can be unpredictable, and some folks have made the mistake of trying to plan for parasailing on the last day of their vacation, only to have Mother Nature rain on their parade.
-
Where do we park and what time should we arrive? Please arrive 30 minutes prior to departure. There is paid parking all along Water St and surrounding areas. Alternatively, there is the Library Parkade on Ellis St or Prospera Place parking lot, both are paid lots. Please allow time to get parking situated as downtown gets very busy! Street parking is free on Sundays.
-
Can I take my phone up?You can if you want to, but it's at your own risk. That's why we offer photo and video packages, so that you can enjoy the experience without the stress of dropping your phone!
-
Can I take my belongings on the boat? You can bring a small bag with you on the boat. All bags should stay dry but we cannot guarantee they will not get wet so please think about the items you bring with you. Larger items like strollers can be stored at our kiosk.
-
What if the weather is bad the day/time of my reservation?Give us a call if you are questioning whether or not we are going out. The captains will decide if the conditions are suitable for parasailing. We do not parasail when there is lightning or in high winds. We still parasail when it’s overcast/cloudy and in light, passing rain. If we know before your reservation that we are not operating we will give you a call.
-
What are your cancellation and refund policies? You have 48 hours prior to your booking to cancel and receive a full refund. A cancellation after that point or a no-show may result in loss of all booking amounts. If you book within the 48-hour period, there are no refunds or change-of-mind cancellations. Rebooking requested within the 48 hour period may be subject to extra fees. All cancellations due to poor weather conditions will be rescheduled or receive a full refund.
-
Do you have group specials?Yes, for groups of 10 or more please call us to find out the most up-to-date specials and offers. 250-300-7245.
