As we approach the end of September, basking in the mild and warm sunny days of Kelowna's late summer, we're savouring these last few weekends of parasailing as the 2023 is winding down. While we prepare to winterize our boats, we'd like to take a moment to reflect on the remarkable journey that was the 2023 season at Okanagan Parasail. This year was filled with highs and lows, challenges and triumphs, and we want to share our story with you.
Weathering the Midnight Windstorm in July
One of the standout moments this season occurred late on July 24th when an unexpected windstorm hit our dock, almost at midnight. The strong winds and rough waves posed a real test for us. However, our dedicated team were there at the dock, holding onto the boat in the dark to prevent it from crashing into the dock and shoreline. After some effort, they managed to navigate the boat across the lake to a westside safe harbour for the night. This event was a testament to the unpredictable nature of our beloved Okanagan, but we emerged from the storm even more determined to provide you with safe and thrilling parasailing experiences.
Battling the Wildfires of Late August:
August 18th brought another challenge to Kelowna and the Okanagan as wildfires swept through the region. The smoke-filled skies and the uncertainty it brought to our community were undeniable. Small businesses like ours felt the impact, with cancellations and travel bans affecting tourism in the Okanagan. Despite these setbacks, we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing exceptional parasailing adventures.
A Resilient Team
Throughout the 2023 season, Okanagan Parasail weathered challenges and celebrated numerous memorable highs in the skies. Our dedicated team demonstrated remarkable resilience, adapting to changing circumstances while prioritizing your safety and enjoyment. Our crew worked tirelessly to ensure each parasailing trip became a cherished memory. Additionally, we had the pleasure of hosting guests of all ages, from the young to the young at heart, who sought to conquer their fears, experience thrilling adventures, mark milestones, create family vacation memories, and even make proposals in the breathtaking Okanagan skies. We met remarkable individuals from diverse backgrounds who shared their stories with us.
